Slovak daily "Pravda" printed an exclusive interview with Chargé d’Affairs Keith Eddins on July 4 emphasizing the strong U.S./Slovak cooperation in Afghanistan and highlighting that the U.S. would welcome further Slovak engagement. Chargé Eddins noted that it would be helpful if the restrictions placed on Slovak forces in Afghanistan could be softened or lifted. Slovak news channel TA3 in Bratislava hosted Chargé d’Affairs Keith Eddins on July 1 for "Topic of the Day" news analysis program. Mr. Eddins spoke about various US foreign policy concerns, including the withdrawal of American troops from Iraq, and the current situation in Iran following disputed elections in that country. Regarding the possible missile defense shield to be placed in Europe, Mr. Eddins said that the United States is examining threat levels from both Iran and Russia, and will make a final decision based on this assessment.
