Ambassador Obsitnik Joins European Allies in Calling for Immediate End to Conflict in Georgia

Ambassador Vincent Obsitnik appeared on TA3’s daily political talk show, "Téma dňa," on August 11 and unequivocally called for a cease fire and a withdrawal to positions held before the conflict began and for both sides to find a peaceful solution to the dispute. The 30-minute program also featured interviews with the Ambassador to Slovakia from Georgia, Ambassador to Slovakia from the Russian Federation and a Slovak evacuee. Ambassador Obsitnik called the Russian actions disproportionate and rejected any notion that Kosovo’s declaration of independence had anything to do with Russian aggression against Georgia.
