Ambassador Obsitnik Makes Friends at Lunik IX, Visits American Factory and Wooden Church in Eastern Slovakia

In an official visit to Eastern Slovakia May 5-7, Ambassador and Mrs. Vincent Obsitnik found time to meet Slovaks from all professions and in many different communities, large and small. They toured the Whirlpool factory in Poprad and were briefed on its innovative Roma hiring program;discussed the US primary elections with students at Presov University; and visited the landmark Bodruzal Wooden Church. Ambassador Obsitnik delivered a speech on US foreign policy priorities for the Slovak Foreign Policy Association in Presov and later met with Dr. Ivetta Macejkova, President of the Constitutional Court, in Kosice. One special event: a tour of the Elementary School in Lunik IX, where the children showed the Ambassador their art work.
