Bratislava University Library and Embassy Continue InfoUSA Cooperation

General Director of the University Library in Bratislava, Tibor Trgiňa, and the Embassy'sPublic Affairs Officer Edward Kemp on January 22 signed a revised memorandum of understanding continuing their partnership in the information and cultural center, InfoUSA Bratislava. The Embassy and the University Library have jointly operated InfoUSA Bratislava since February 2005, when the center was formally inaugurated by First Lady Laura Bush. In her remarks at the time she said: "There is perhaps no greater joy for a librarian than to help open the doors to a new home of learning and literature." In its nearly three years of existence, the center has proved to be not only a home of learning, but also an effective venue for the Slovak public to learn about American life and culture. Among the many programs hosted at the center have been book and poster exhibits, a series of American films, speaker programs and other events to promote a better understanding of the United States. The memorandum continues this fruitful cooperation for a further three years.
