“Bridges/Mosty”: Ceramic works form connection between Slovak and American artists
Two American and one Slovak ceramic artists – and the collaboration between them and their students in both countries – form the theme of the sixth exhibit in the Embassy Art Space. "Bridges/Mosty" presents works in clay produced especially for this exhibit. Nick de Vries, a professor of fine arts at University of Houston-Clear Lake, initiated the show and persuaded his colleagues, Ivica Vidrova of the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava and Georgette Zirbes of The University of Michigan, to work with him. Fulbright grants brought both American professors to Slovakia for teaching and research. Later, Professor Vidrova was invited by the University of Houston-Clear Lake to share her teaching and creative styles. The exhibit is open to the public from October 30 to January 11.
