Chargé d’Affaires Keith Eddins interviews for Slovak TV "Správy a komentáre"
August 10, 2009
Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy Keith Eddins spoke live on Slovak TV's nightly news about the anniversary of the explosion of a nuclear bomb over Hiroshima and current nuclear threats. Eddins said that negotiations between the US and Russia on the reduction of the number of nuclear missiles have already started and that the United States is optimistic that these negotiations would have a successful wrap-up. He stressed that the goal of the United States is to free the Korean peninsula of nuclear weapons and that on this and the Iranian issue the international community is united. Eddins noted that the United States has been working against the spread of nuclear weapons in the world and sees this goal as a moral responsibility of the only nation to have deployed such a weapon in past combat.
