The US Embassy’s Office of Defense Cooperation worked with the Ministry of the Interior in organizing the third in a series of seminars in Slovakia titled: “Eastern and Central European Regional Seminar on Legal Aspects of Combating Terrorism and Handling Extremism”. It was held at the State Police Academy in Bratislava from August 24 to 28, 2009. Fourty-eight participants from nine European countries will take part in the seminar. The seminar was financed by the “Counter Terrorism Fellowship Program (CTFP)” of the United States Defense Department. Minister of Interior Kalinak and U.S. Chargé Eddins gave remarks to open the seminar and then had a brief press availability where Chargé Eddins praised the U.S./Slovak strategic cooperation against terrorism as well as thanking Slovakia for their decision to accept 98 Palestinian refugees from Iraq for temporary resettlement.
