Child Custody and Abduction Issues

Slovakia and the United States are both Parties to Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction (often called just “the Hague Abduction Convention”.)   This Convention addresses abduction or unlawful retention in one Party Country of a child who usually resided in another Party Country, regardless of the citizenship of either the child or the parents.

The primary point of contact for a parent whose child has been abducted from the United States to Slovakia is the U.S. Central Authority for the Convention (the Office of Children’s Issues in the U.S. Department of State).  This office can be contacted at:
