Chris Byars Quartet to Perform Jazz in Two Slovak Cities

Sponsored by the US Embassy in Slovakia, the Chris Byars Quartet, will perform in Bratislava and Košice. The renowned quartet featuring Chris Byars on saxophone, John Mosca on trombone, Ari Roland on bass and Stefan Schatz on drums, is on tour as part of the 2007-2008 Rhythm Road: American Music Abroad season produced by Jazz at Lincoln Center and the U.S. State Department. The New York band will come to Slovakia for a three day tour and will start their program on February 25 in Bratislava, where it will hold a concert at the Small Studio in the Slovak Radio building. In Košice, on February 26, they will hold a concert at GES Klub. The quartet of accomplished musicians will hold Master classes throughout their stay in Slovakia. The band has been performing together for two decades, most frequently at the New York City jazz club, Smalls and plays original music based on a lifelong study of great jazz masters.
