Chargé d’Affaires Keith Eddins on June 28 traveled to Liptovksý Mikuláš in northern Slovakia to participate in the Summer School for Young Professionals hosted by the Center for European and North Atlantic Affairs. During his speech and the subsequent discussion, Mr. Eddins explained U.S. policy regarding various security challenges, including the global economic recession, NATO, climate change, and the current situation in Iran. “Our policies are rooted in the need for America and our allies to meet common challenges; addressing these challenges represents an absolute necessity for the U.S., NATO, the EU, and entire global community,” he said. While in Liptovksý Mikuláš, Mr. Eddins also met with the town’s mayor, Ján Blcháč. The two discussed the history of the area, as well as the effects of the gobal recession on the town’s economy. During his travels, Mr. Eddins provided interviews for various Slovak and regional media outlets, including Ružomberok TV, TV Liptov, Slovak Radio, My, and Slovak television.
