Deputy Chief of Mission Visits Matej Bel to Increase U.S. –Slovak Exchanges

Banská Bystrica, home to an InfoUSA study corner and Matej Bel University, has seen much activity in cooperation with the U.S Embassy. Deputy Chief of Mission Lawrence Silverman made a visit to Banská Bystrica on February 13 to meet with the leadership at Matej Bel University and students at the Embassy- supported InfoUSA center.  Mr. Silverman discussed avenues to increase educational exchanges with Vice-Rector for International Relations Ján Chorvát of Matej Bel. With the students at InfoUSA, Mr. Silverman first discussed the possibility for work and travel and exchange programs for students who want to travel to the United States. He then explained the U.S. election system and current election politics, followed by a tour of an exhibit of African-American murals on display in the State Scientific Library to commemorate Black History Month.
