Newly opened Gallery Presents Works Inspired by Slovakia
May 16,2007
The newly opened Gallery "Galéria PF 01," with support from the U.S. Embassy, opened a photographic exhibit on May 16 entitled "Generations." It brings together artists from three countries including Slovakia and the United States. The goal of the exhibit is to bring together - and confront - the cultural and generational differences of the contributors and display works inspired by Slovakia. American photographer Ernestine Ruben presents "Destiny," a collection of photographic diptychs from her most recent visit to Slovakia in 2006. Danica Ocvirk Kus, from Belgium, gives us "Inner View," a photographic expression of perceptions of the Slovak landscape blended with meditations on the core values of life. Katka Pracková, born in socialist Czechoslovakia and growing up during the Velvet Revolution, presents "Cold Y," an exploration of how changes of that time left marks on everyone: the new possibilities eventually caused confusion as much as new hope.
