U.S. Embassy Forum Promotes Exchanges Between Slovak and U.S. Universities

The U.S. Embassy in Bratislava held a forum on June 6 for representatives of Slovak and American universities to increase academic exchanges. Minster of Education Jan Mikolaj and Ambassador Rodolphe M. Vallee opened the forum and the key U.S. presenter, Paul Zukowski, Assistant Director for Commercialization Programs, IC2 Institute at the University of Texas discussed how Slovak universities can use the innovative research being done in Slovakia to build partnerships with private businesses. Other representatives from the United States included: John Kmetz, Faculty Director of International Programs at the Lerner College of Business and Economics at the University of Delaware; Gina M. Peirce, Assistant Director, Center of Russian and East European Studies at the University of Pittsburgh; Gregory Pulver, Chairman, Theater Arts Department, Western Washington University and Silvia Tomaskova, Associate Professor of Women’s Studies and Anthropology at the University of North Carolina.
