Since April 4, the Information Resource Center at Embassy Bratislava has distilled the best of the Web on the 2008 U.S. elections into a newsletter called “Election Focus 2008” that has proven to be a hit with young political leaders in Slovakia. The number of newsletter subscribers has increased as those receiving the package share it with friends and colleagues. Besides a “Best of the Web” section, each newsletter explores in depth issues of interest to Slovak readers who want to know more about the U.S. electoral process. The latest issue presents articles on campaign finance and polling. The newsletter also advertises the embassy’s related programs in its “Upcoming Events” section. This week the newsletter invites all interested to a primary season roundtable on April 29, which will explore the meaning of the Pennsylvania primary. The discussion, featuring a Fulbright professor, think tank representatives and Embassy officers, will offer a fuller picture of the primary process and political issues of importance in the 2008 presidential race.
