Political Counselor Susan Ball takes questions in TA3 studio on President’s speech. |
Invited to the TA3 studio as a commentator, the Embassy’s Political Counselor Susan Ball responded to questions from the moderator following President Obama’s address June 4 to the Muslim world from Cairo University. In his speech, broadcast globally and on the Internet, Obama said: “Freedom of religion is central to the ability of peoples to live together. We must always examine the ways in which we protect it.” He went on to commit the U.S. to partnering with “any Muslim-majority country to support expanded literacy for girls.” He made clear the U.S. Government’s position of rejecting what “people of all faiths reject: the killing of innocent men, women, and children.” In her remarks, Ms Ball amplified the President’s points, saying that this moment is an important step in improving relations with the Arabic world. She said the President identified clearly what all partners, including the U.S. and Israel, now need to do in resolving ongoing regional conflicts.
