Embassy Officer Helps Celebrate 15 Years of Professional Training for Mayors, Administrators

The Regional Education Centre - East celebrated its fifteenth anniversary in Lomnica on October 31 with a special program for Slovak municipal officials. This unique, member-funded educational institution provides training and skills to mayors and city administrators in Slovakia's eastern districts through three regional centres: Košice, Michalovce and Prešov. The Embassy's Fascell Fellow Aaron Chase joined more than 100 mayors from eastern Slovakia, along with State Secretary of the Ministry of Construction and Regional Development Daniel Ács, at a Ceremonial Conference to mark the occasion and the contributions of early supporters. These included the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the EU's PHARE program, and the Dutch and Danish governments.
