Embassy Sponsored Music Festival Brings Prominent Fortepiano Maker to Bratislava

The Second Annual International Hammerklavier Festival, organised by the Bratislava Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts and sponsored by the embassy, showcased historical fortepianos to Slovak audiences. An honored guest of the festival was Mr. Paul McNulty, one of the most prominent American fortepiano builders in the world. Mr. McNulty came to Slovakia from his current residence in the Czech Republic and brought 2 historic pianos to be used in concert at the festival. Mr. McNulty made a public appearance on March 22 at 7:00 pm in the Hall of Mirrors of the Primates Palace. Mr. McNulty also traveled to the Music Museum in Dolna Krupa where several old pianos are stored. There he gave professional advice on how to repair and maintain them.
