Emergency Passports

The U.S. Embassy in Bratislava has the ability to issue emergency passports in certain limited circumstances.  These passports have very restricted validity and are generally issued only to enable stranded citizens to return home.  Persons who need emergency passports should apply during regular working hours and should follow the regular instructions for the type of passport that pertains to them.  Certain requirements can be waived for victims of crime, etc.  Once approved, the average processing time is 30 minutes.  Although emergency passports can sometimes be issued outside of normal business hours, this is usually only authorized in genuine life-or-death situations.
