U.S. Embassy Proudly Exhibits Works of Art Inspired by Bratislava
From February 5, to March 31, The U.S. Embassy will host an exhibition of Michelle Leier's Landscapes and works of found art. Ms. Leier is an American who has lived in and been inspired by Slovakia for four years. Ms. Leier says that all of the works on display are informed by an interest in her surroundings, and were completed in Bratislava. Upon moving here, she decided to expand her process of representation and experimented widely with various media while still continuing to paint. The diversity of the works reflects the variety one experiences in Bratislava. Many of these works, especially the paintings, explore the relationship involving colors, materials, and imagery that serves to create interplay between depth and flatness. The collages represent an inherent curiosity in the repeating structures nature relies on, and how they are continually disrupted, while the cityscapes embody the shifting awareness that one may feel in a chaotic city. It is open by appointment; please call 02/5443-0861 or e-mail arc@usembassy.sk with your requested time of visit during regular Embassy working hours.
