Ambassador Vallee Urges Business Leaders to Become Involved in Increasing Transparency in Slovakia

Ambassador Rodolphe Vallee delivered a speech to business leaders in Žilina on February 8, urging them to become more active in the fight to increase transparency and decrease corruption in Slovakia. Citing several examples of such practices in the United States, Ambassador Vallee argued that corruption exists everywhere and that it has a high cost. A major theme of Ambassador Vallee’s comments was that America’s tradition of transparency is a model that works to reduce corrupt practices by exposing them more fully to public scrutiny. Referring to the business leaders as 'natural allies' in the battle to combat corrupt practices, Ambassador Vallee promised to cooperate with them to increase transparency in Slovakia.
