Games, Hikes and an Air Force Band: Embassy Supports Roma Summer Camp in Dobrá Voda
Employees of the U.S. Embassy in Bratislava and their family members supported a summer camp for Roma children July 1-5. Working with the non-government organization Ad Patrem and Slovak Scouting, Embassy employees received a grant from the J. Kirby Simon Trust to support 2 two-and-a-half day camps in the picturesque village of Dobrá Voda. Twenty-seven girls took part in the first camp from July 1-3 and 19 boys took part in the second camp from July 3-5. The children participated in various athletic games and musical activities, and hiked to a nearby castle in the village. On July 4, the U.S. Air Force Europe rock band “Touch ‘n Go” performed in Dobrá Voda’s town square to the delight of over 100 locals and tourists. Ten Embassy staffers, including Chargé d’ Affairs Keith Eddins and his family, volunteered their time and energy in support of the camp.
