Getty Institute Joins Forces with Art Academy, National Library to Conserve Historic Photos
Representatives of the prestigious Getty Conservation Insitute of Los Angeles on November 8 sign an agreement with the Academy of Fine Arts and Design and the Slovak National Library to create a regional conservation training center in Bratislava and to help conserve Slovakia's historic photo archives. The new project recognizes the high quality of art conservation and restoration education offered at the Academy, as well as establishing a photo conservation lab at the Slovak National Library in Martin. Ambassador Rodolphe M. Vallee offers his commentary on the new agreement (read his Remarks). To mark the occasion, the Embassy has sponsored an exhibit of historic photo's from the National Library, which will tour libraries in Slovakia in 2008.
