Students in Bratislava join Ms. Toni     Blackman ‘digitally’ in spoken word     workshop

Hip Hop Ambassador Brings Performance Poetry to Slovakia

On October 17 Ms. Toni Blackman help a poetry seminar via digital video conference (DVC) with 22 students from Comenius University in which she and her colleague performed poetry pieces they had written and led the students in workshop exercises to develop abilities in the spoken word. Ms. Blackman and her took challenging workshop exercises, which are are difficult enough when the instructor is in the room with the students and won the participation and engaged the interest of her audience effectively. The students rarely have the opportunity to interact with an accomplished performer of poetic works. This DVC allowed the students to both hear and see how performance poetry is meant to be experienced, but allowed them to try their hand at sculpting and presenting the spoken word.
