Interior Minister and DCM Discuss Trafficking in Persons

Interior Minister Robert Kalinak and Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) Thatcher Scharpf participated in a joint press conference September 4 to discuss the recently-released Trafficking in Persons report produced by the U.S. Department of State. For the second year in a row, Slovakia achieved a Tier 1 ranking, demonstrating the government’s continued commitment to combating human trafficking. Following opening remarks and the presentation of a media campaign to raise public awareness, the Minister of Interior, DCM, and representatives from the Ministry, Embassy, and International Organization for Migration spoke to media about the situation in Slovakia, efforts being made to fight trafficking, and areas for improvement both in Slovakia and the United States.
