80 American musicians to perform Friday in Petrzalka
Bratislava, August 4, 2004
The U.S. Embassy, in cooperation with the Bratislava Cultural and Information Center, is sponsoring a concert of 80 professional and amateur American musicians on Friday, August 6, at 7:00 p.m. The free concert will take place in Petrzalka at the Church of the Holy Family.
The program of the concert will be the Charles Ives' String Quartet No.1 and Ludwig van Beethoven's Mass in C, Op. 86. The musicians are coming to Bratislava from Eisenstadt, Austria, where they participated in the 2004 Classical Music Festival there.
The Festival Chorus and Orchestra is made up of highly talented musicians from all over America and includes professionals, university professors, gifted college and university students, and singers from civic, professional, university and church organizations. Musicians meet in Eisenstadt to study and perform the music of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and others, in the place where the composers lived and worked.
