2004 Press Releases
U.S. Introduces an Additional Method for Local Payment of the I-901 SEVIS Fee
Bratislava, November 16, 2004
As of November 1, 2004, students and exchange visitors (persons applying for F-1, M-1, and J-1 visas to the United States) can pay the I-901 SEVIS fee locally via the Western Union Quick Pay service. This provides an additional payment option for applicants for student and exchange visas.
Western Union offices can be found at branches of Tatra Banka, Vseobecna Uverova Banka, and Slovenska Posta, as well as other convenient locations. The Western Union receipt should be presented to the U.S. Embassy during the visa interview as confirmation of payment.
The I-901 SEVIS fee has been required since September 1, 2004. It supports the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS), the automated system for collecting, maintaining and managing information about foreign student and exchange visitors during their entry to, stay in, and exit from the United States.
Instructions on how to pay the SEVIS fee using Western Union are located at http://www.ice.gov/graphics/sevis/i901/wu_instr.htm
Information on SEVIS can be found at http://www.ice.gov/graphics/sevis/index.htm.
More information on the visa application process in general is available on the embassy website, http://www.usembassy.sk.
