Information about U.S. response to Indian Ocean disaster available on website
Bratislava, December 30, 2004
The United States has made an initial pledge of $35 million in relief assistance in response to the December 26 earthquake and tsunamis in the Indian Ocean. "This is only the beginning of our help," President Bush said in a statement December 29. The U.S. has also dispatched disaster experts and military units to the region to help.
