2007 PRESS RELEASES

Fine Arts Students Display New Works on Freedom at Embassy

Bratislava, April 17, 2007

On April 16, the U.S. Embassy opened an exhibit of works created especially for the Embassy's Art Space. "I Have a Dream … za plotom (beyond the fence)" is the project of an American Fulbright professor of art, Janeil Engelstad, and her class of Slovak and other European students from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava.

The exhibit of paintings, photos, video and interactive works offers a thought-provoking commentary on themes of security, travel, boundaries and freedom.

This cooperative project showcases talents of a new generation of artists and provides an opportunity for Slovak-American dialogue. The exhibit is available to the public from April 17 to June 15.
