Romano Drom: New website provides up-to-date portraits of Roma-Slovak personalities

A new information source -- www.romanodrom.sk in Slovak, English and Roma languages -- has been created and launched by the Roma Press Agency, with funding from the U.S. Embassy, to inform a wide Internet audience about successful representatives of the Roma community in Slovakia. On these pages you can get acquainted with Roma who have assimilated into the majority society in many dimensions: politicians, highly specialized professions, cultural figures and media representatives. This user-friendly and entertaining database provides a glimpse into the lives and work of activists from the Roma community for those interested in current Roma-majority relations and in improving mutual contacts. The website is an ideal resource for teachers at schools with mixed classes (Roma and non-Roma children), especially in the regions of Kosice and Presov. Children can see those Roma who are part of their community and who have achieved professional and personal success in various spheres.
