U.S. Defense Official on TA3 Cites Importance of Central Europe

Alexander Vershbow, U.S. Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs, in an interview broadcast live by cable news channel TA3 October 21 emphasized that relations with Central and Eastern Europe remain an important priority for the United States under the Obama administration. He said that the revised missile defense plan for Europe is based on more effective technology and is not a concession to Russia. He added that the government of Poland agrees with the new approach and that other countries from central and eastern Europe, including Russia, will also have the opportunity to participate in the project.
