US Embassy Sponsors Conference on Biotechnology and Biofuels
Bratislava, September 7, 2007
On Friday September 14 at 9:00 a.m., Ambassador Rodolphe M. Vallee will open a conference aimed at enhancing agricultural biotechnology and the prospects for their use in biofuels. The conference, organized by the Slovak Food and Agricultural Association and the US Embassy Bratislava present will be held in The Congress Center in Piestany.
Specialists from the European Union, the United States and Slovakia will address the conference. Jorge de Saja, Director of the Agricultural Feed Association in Spain will discuss practical experience planting and processing GM crops within the European Union while Professor Richard Phipps from Reading University in the United Kingdom will speak on the use of biotechnology for production of food and feedstuffs.
RNDr. Peter Siekel, CSc., from VÚP in Bratislava will present the effects of GM food on human health and Fred Yoder of the National Corn Growers Association in the USA will present the experience and opportunity for GM crops in Slovakia.
