Wayne Shorter, Chick Corea Concerts in Bratislava

Jazz legends Wayne Shorter and Chick Correa will perform at separate concerts at Incheba in Bratislava on Tuesday, November 10, and Wednesday, November 11, at 8 p.m.. The concerts are sponsored in part by the U.S. Embassy, in support of American performing arts in Slovakia. Saxophonist and composer Wayne Shorter will perform November 10 with his quartet: pianist Danilo Perez, bassist John Patitucci and drummer Brian Blade. Shorter’s album Beyond the Sound Barrier received the 2006 Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Jazz Album. His album Alegria also received the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Jazz Album. He is widely considered the greatest living jazz composer. The pianist and composer Chick Corea will perform Nov. 11 with bassist Stanley Clarke and drummer Lenny White as the Power of Three. Chick Corea and vibraphonist Gary Burton won the the 2009 Grammy Award for Best Jazz Instrumental Album for The New Crystal Silence. It was Corea’s 15th Grammy win. The Power of Three reunites Corea with Clarke and White, who were all members of the the jazz fusion group Return to Forever in the 1970s.
