Withdrawal of U.S. Troops from Iraq, Relations with Russia, Discussed in TA3 Interview

Slovak television news channel TA3 in Bratislava hosted Chargé d’Affairs Keith Eddins on July 1 for “Topic of the Day” news analysis program. Mr. Eddins spoke about various US foreign policy concerns, including the withdrawal of American troops from Iraq, and the current situation in Iran following disputed elections in that country. Regarding the possible missile defense shield to be placed in Europe, Mr. Eddins said that the United States is examining threat levels from both Iran and Russia, and will make a final decision based on this assessment. President Obama is set to visit to Moscow on July 6, and will speak with Russian President Medvedev with the goal of improving working relations between the two countries, explained Mr. Eddins. The interview was seen throughout the country.
